Descrizione
The hike starts from San Martino Inferiore (Lower) hamlet where the path reaches the upper hamlet and climbs along sparse mixed forest and pastures up to 1834 m of Colle Bettone. From here you pass through an environment of strong fascination: the route cuts steep slopes that fall into the "Orrido di Elva", an impressive gorge shaped by erosion. Reach the clearing of Colle San Giovanni, where you can admire the round chapel of San Giovanni; superb panoramic view on Mounts Chersogno (3024 m) and Pelvo (3061 m). The forest track descends in the larch forest and reaches the first of the 28 hamlets belonging to the municipality of Elva. Serre stands in the combe, where a visit to the parish church with a cycle of frescoes by the Flemish painter Hans Clemer and to the "Cavié" Museum (ancient profession of hair pickers and wig makers) is a must.
